Wise Enterprise's Bed Rug
By DChenster (3/25/2005)
It's very bad to get your knee on the truck bed, especially with the Line-X liner spread on the truck bed because it's hard and rugged like small rocks. When there are people who need to get some stuff in the truck bed, it's hard on their feet and things flying everywhere when you take a 90 degree right turn going 50 miles per hour. Anyway, after several instances of stuff flying every where than damaged some stuff, the hard sleeping surface, and the last straw is an unfortunate instances of wet feet in the truck bed then slipped in the truck bed. There fore a decision is made to get bed rug after some user recommended it. Also it's sold in the place that carried my camper shell, so there are great demos by the Shell Country since they use them in their personal trucks.
This is the box, was thinking it's in there bed length wise due to truck bed ribs
But when it got out, it's in width wise, which surprised, but it's still very pliable
From the side
The floor section & tailgate comes separately than the sides, so there are total of two sides
There are the 3M velcro
Thought there are more instruction, but it's really 1 page insturction. Also can be download from the website
There is a zipper to zip around the side & floor together, it's very strong zipper, but can be zipped within 5 minutes
Zipping up the wheel hump, which requires some pulls and tucks, but it will zip up
That's what the shape will be when zipped
Testing fit to see where on the truck bed need to push a little, but everything fit perfectly especially the small bumps and humps
Since everything fit perfectly, so it's time to Velcro up, but need to clean up with acetone before stick it on
There is the back side of Velcro. There are total three piece long Velcro, which two are shorter for the bed, and one extra long one for the bulkhead.
After everything is done, here is the completed Bedrug install
The right side of the bulkhead
It fits very well, even near the top, especially it's same charcoal color as the Camper shell linear
The hook, especially if look carefully, the hump, dips are molded within the rug
It looks tight
The other side look tight too, but the tail gate seal sold separately, not include in the bed rug
Everything looks great
The tailgate section
Before; with Camper shell on, Line-X ed
Post install, which looks great, and comfy
Close the tailgate, then the connection section will rise to give perfect fit
From the bulk head, looks great
The connection between the seams are very close, most people won't notice there are a end of zipper there
Close look at the wall
The seams can't even notice the separation
Opinion
The bed rug wasn't cheap material, it's not a carpet, but synthetic material. It's weatherproof, acid proof and very comfortable for sleeping on. It fits very well, especially it's tailored for different trucks, and I think it's very well made. I got a sample of bed rug, which it didn't show how fit it is, so I didn't get it right the way, but since I got it now, I can see why the Shell Country is recommending it. its great product and I think it's great. once I opened up the box, whole installation only takes 30 minutes, and it was a simple install. The instruction stated the end of tailgate piece can be fit under truck tailgate cap, but I think it's better with it hangout instead. But based on my test, it's not heat resistance so I have to un-Velcro it to put stove on tailgate to cook stuff, but it's minor issue and it doesn't detract me from it's functions. Its almost completely flat, until you step on the hump section versus dip section, and it's minor enough not to be any problem. Overall, it's great accessories for the truck, so it's recommend by a lot of user, and it should last a while. Only thing that I might worry about is when one piece of Velcro stick on the rug, it pulls out some from the rug, but I think it's normal like regular carpet, and it's just manufacture process so it will take some time of vacuum and cleaning to clean up the minor parts.
Excellent:
Fast installation
Strong piece
Not too thick to detract the space
Great color (It's just me, because it's same color as my camper shell)
Great fit
comfortable
water & acid resistance
Not so Excellent:
Price somewhat expensive, but look around, it can be had for 300 dollars or less
loose fabric section
third party vender delayed shipment
Need to force fit the connection between bed & tailgate piece
Need better instruction & detail
